STRUGGLING WITH KERATOCONUS OR CORNEAL IRREGULARITIES?
DISCOVER THE POWER OF CUSTOM SCLERAL LENSES — SERVING DALLAS & FORT WORTH

We provide medically necessary contact lens fittings for patients with keratoconus, corneal scarring, post-surgical irregularities, and other complex corneal conditions. Clear, stable vision is possible again.

WHAT ARE
SCLERAL LENSES?

Scleral lenses are large, custom-designed contact lenses that rest on the white part of your eye (the sclera) and gently vault over the cornea. This design creates a fluid-filled chamber between the lens and the eye, which:

  • Keeps your eyes hydrated throughout the day

  • Shields and supports irregular, scarred, post-surgical, or otherwise compromised corneas

  • Delivers clear, stable vision even when glasses and soft contacts haven’t worked

Our doctors use advanced imaging technology and precision design to create scleral lenses tailored to your unique eyes, ensuring a secure fit and exceptional comfort.

WHY SCLERAL LENSES?

For patients with keratoconus, corneal scarring, or post-surgical irregularities, glasses and soft contacts often can’t correct vision. Irregular corneas can cause blurred, ghosted, or fluctuating vision, along with dryness and discomfort.

Scleral lenses vault over the cornea, creating a smooth optical surface that restores crisp, stable vision, protects the eye, and provides lasting comfort — even for complex corneal conditions. For many, they’re the only option that truly works.

This means:

  • Clear, stable vision even with irregular or damaged corneas

  • A protective layer of hydration for compromised eyes

  • A chance to regain vision and comfort when other options have failed

AM I A CANDIDATE FOR SCERAL LENSES?

Scleral lenses are typically recommended for patients with corneal irregularities or eye conditions that make traditional contacts ineffective or uncomfortable. You may benefit from a medically necessary contact lens evaluation if you have:

WHAT TO EXPECT FROM YOUR SCLERAL LENS JOURNEY

Because no two corneas are exactly alike, no two scleral lens journeys are either. While the steps below outline a typical process, your doctor will personalize each phase of care to meet your eyes’ specific needs. Some patients may need extra visits or fine-tuning to achieve the perfect fit, comfort, and clarity.

Comprehensive Exam

Your journey begins with a full eye health and vision evaluation, including your annual exam and an initial contact lens fitting. This allows us to map the shape of your cornea and design a lens tailored to your condition.

Lens Design & Mapping

Once your lenses are ready, you’ll return to ensure they fit properly and deliver clear vision. Our team provides one-on-one training for insertion, removal, and daily care to set you up for success.

Follow-Up Visits (First 90 Days)

Some patients require additional visits during the adaptation period to make refinements. These adjustments help ensure the lenses provide optimal vision and comfort for long-term wear.

Annual Eye & Contact Lens Exams

Regular yearly visits are essential for maintaining your eye health, updating your prescription, and replacing lenses as needed. Because scleral lenses are custom-made, they’re typically replaced on an annual basis to keep your vision at its best.
